While Tufan Erhürman emerged victorious in the presidential elections in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), the statement made by İhsan Aktaş, the chairman of GENAR Research, one day before the election became a topic of discussion. Sharing the results of his research, Aktaş stated that support for Ersin Tatar was at 60%, while support for Erhürman was around 40%.
In the first round of the presidential election held in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), according to unofficial results, the leader of the Republican Turkish Party (CTP), Tufan Erhürman, was elected president by receiving 62.76% of the votes.
ERSİN TATAR REMAINED AT 35.81%
The Chairman of the TRNC Supreme Election Board, Bertan Özerdağ, announced in a statement regarding the election results that Erhürman won the presidential race. Özerdağ stated that Erhürman received 62.76% of the votes, while independent candidate Ersin Tatar received 35.81%.
GENAR RESEARCH'S ESTIMATES BECAME A SUBJECT OF RIDICULE
While the election results in the TRNC resonated widely in the public, the research results announced by GENAR Research for this election became a subject of ridicule.
"UNDECIDED VOTERS ARE PREFERING ERSİN TATAR"
The President of GENAR Research, İhsan Aktaş, stated in a post made one day before the TRNC elections, "In the research we conducted in Cyprus one month before the election; 1- Support for a two-state solution by Ersin Tatar is 60% 2- Support for a federation solution by Tufan Erhürman is 40%. A considerable number of undecided voters existed a month ago. According to new field data, undecided voters are preferring Ersin Tatar," he expressed.
