Greece continues its policy of increasing defense spending without slowing down. According to the Kathimerini newspaper, the Athens government is preparing to purchase a PULS multiple rocket launcher system worth 692 million euros from Israel.
It has been reported that Greece will procure a PULS-type multiple rocket launcher system from Israel worth 692 million euros.
According to a report by the Kathimerini newspaper, the procurement of Israeli-made PULS-type multiple rocket launcher systems worth 692 million euros will be discussed in the special committee of the Greek Parliament regarding armament tomorrow.
In the meeting, the committee will also receive information about underwater mine detection and neutralization vehicles worth a total of 100 million euros, as well as the modernization of MEKO-type 5-inch (127 mm) main guns and the electronic warfare program.
The briefing to the committee will be followed by a presentation from Greek Defense Minister Nikos Dendias regarding the procurements. Subsequently, the arms purchases will be submitted for approval to the General Assembly of the Parliament.
The procurements will be part of Greece's medium-term defense program, the Achilles Shield.
SPARE PARTS WILL ALSO BE PRODUCED IN GREECE
According to the agreement to be made with Israel for the procurement of PULS-type multiple rocket launcher systems, it is anticipated that spare parts for the PULS will be produced in Greece, and for this purpose, the manufacturing company Elbit is expected to provide training to Greek technicians.
In reports from the Greek press in September, it was claimed that Athens also wanted to make a weapons purchase of approximately 700 million euros from Israel, but the agreement was postponed due to the current situation in Gaza.
