The trial of 10 suspects for the murder of Ankara University faculty member Associate Professor Dr. Necip Hablemitoglu in front of his home in Ankara on December 18, 2002, continued. The defendants Nuri Gokhan Bozkir, who is convicted in another case, and Enver Altayli were connected to the hearing from prison via the Audio and Video Informatics System (SEGBIS).
Unremanded defendant Mehmet Narin was excused from the hearing. Unremanded defendants Levent Goktas, Fikret Emek, Aydin Kostem, and Ahmet Tarkan Mumcuoglu, along with the parties' lawyers, attended.
HEARING ADJOURNED TO OCTOBER 14
Defendant Enver Altayli, claiming he was included in the case file solely because he was a friend, stated that fugitive defendant Serhat Ilcak passed away 2 days ago and said, "I refer the investigation prosecutor to God. I request the lifting of judicial control measures."
All defendants requested the lifting of judicial control measures and the awaiting of the outcome of the ongoing investigation. Defendant lawyers also made statements in the same direction. In its interim decision, the court decided to maintain the current status of the defendants and to complete the missing aspects in the file, adjourning the hearing to October 14.
