A citizen in Gümüşhane was fined 10,484 TL for a crossing violation on the Istanbul FSM Bridge involving his 1976 model truck, which had been parked in front of his house and not moved for 3 years. The vehicle owner, Sinan Çaklı, who stated he uses the truck as a woodshed, expressed shock at the situation and said he would appeal the fine.
A traffic fine of 10,484 TL was issued to transporter Sinan Çaklı, who lives in the Torul district of Gümüşhane, for his towing-registered truck, which is parked in front of his house and also used as a woodshed in winter, on the grounds that it violated a passage on the FSM Bridge.
SHOCK FINE FOR A VEHICLE THAT NEVER MOVED
Stating that he has been using his 1976 model truck as a woodshed in front of his house for the past year and has only moved it within his home area to change its location for the past 3 years, Çaklı said he was surprised when he saw the notification of the fine issued for his vehicle and noted that he has faced similar fines before.
Çaklı, who stated that the attached document to the notification included a photo of a different vehicle, said he would appeal the fine.
"MY VEHICLE GOT A FINE ON THE FSM BRIDGE BUT IT IS LYING HERE"
Sinan Çaklı, stating that his towing-registered vehicle has been in front of his house for 3 years, said, "My vehicle is a 1976 model, about 50 years old. I keep it for nostalgia. My vehicle has been parked here with a towing permit for about 3 years. A notification letter came to me 15 days ago. My vehicle apparently made an illegal passage on the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge. But my vehicle is sitting here; it is not a vehicle that can go on the road. We don't want this to happen to others. I have experienced such an incident before; this is the third fine. We wanted to make our voice heard to rectify this. I only take my vehicle to my depot. When necessary, I used it to store winter firewood; I used it as a woodshed. It never moved anywhere from here, but we supposedly made a passage violation on the bridge, and a fine came to us."
