In Adana, producer İbrahim Gün, who planted hazelnut saplings he acquired during a Black Sea trip five years ago, has completed this year's harvest.

İbrahim Gün, who lives in the Gedikli neighborhood of the Feke district, started hazelnut production on his 6-decare land at an altitude of 650 meters after seeing and researching during a trip to the Black Sea. After planting the saplings 5 years ago, Gün harvested this year's crop. He carried out the harvest with family members and neighborhood residents in a cooperative manner and also started giving free saplings to those who want them, as much as he can.

"I WANT EVERYONE TO HAVE A HAZELNUT TREE IN THEIR GARDEN"

Providing information about the production, İbrahim Gün said, "This is the end of the Mediterranean, the beginning of Central Anatolia, the foothills of the Taurus Mountains. When you think of Adana, watermelon and kebab come to mind, but it has many features. We researched and brought saplings from the Black Sea. Right now, there is a high demand for free saplings from every province in Turkey. I don't want it to be just for me; I want everyone to have it in their garden. If hazelnuts are in everyone's garden, it will be more fruitful. It will be a separate joy for children to eat hazelnuts in the garden," he said.

Stating that they experienced a loss in yield due to frost this year and could only harvest one-tenth of last year's yield, Gün said, "Thank God for what He has given. This is what we have received as our sustenance, and it has been a pleasure to eat it."

"MY FRIENDS WERE VERY SURPRISED WHEN I TOLD THEM HAZELNUTS ARE PRODUCED IN ADANA"

Süleyman Gün, the nephew of the producer who continues his university education in Artvin, noted that he couldn't believe it when he first heard about hazelnut production in Adana. Gün said, "When I told my friends that hazelnuts are produced in Adana, they were very surprised and didn't believe it. When I showed them photos from my uncle's garden, they were very surprised. I took some for tasting, and they liked it very much. It is productive in the Black Sea, but we also got good results here," he said.
