A person who stabbed and killed the apartment caretaker Bektaş Aşçıpınar in Kayseri appeared before the judge. Aşçıpınar's wife said in court, "He had been constantly threatening my husband for 2 years. Three months before the murder, he said, 'Your death will be at my hands.' A friend of my husband mentioned this after the incident." The judge postponed the case.
Battal U., who stabbed and killed Bektaş Aşçıpınar, the caretaker of the building he lived in Kayseri, stated in the first hearing that he was forced to commit murder. While a report was requested regarding the defendant's criminal responsibility, S.A., Aşçıpınar's wife who was heard in the hearing, said, "He had been constantly threatening my husband for 2 years. Three months before the murder, he said, 'Your death will be at my hands.' This was said by a friend of my husband after the incident."
The incident occurred on September 1 of last year around 1:30 PM in a 15-story building in the Mevlana neighborhood of the Talas district. A dispute broke out between Battal U. and Bektaş Aşçıpınar, the caretaker of the building. The argument quickly escalated into a knife fight. In the fight, Battal U. stabbed Aşçıpınar in the abdomen, seriously injuring him. Aşçıpınar lost his life, and Battal U., who was captured, was arrested.
ATTACK CAUGHT ON CAMERA
Meanwhile, security camera footage of the moments when Battal U. stabbed Aşçıpınar has emerged. In the footage, it was seen that Bektaş Aşçıpınar was waiting for the elevator with his neighbors, and Battal U., who came out of the elevator, attacked Aşçıpınar. The investigation conducted by the Kayseri Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has been completed, and an indictment has been prepared. The indictment, which requests a life sentence for Battal U., has been accepted by the Kayseri Heavy Penal Court.
"I HAD NO CHOICE"
In the first hearing of the case held at the Kayseri 2nd Heavy Penal Court, the detained defendant Battal U. and the complainant wife of the deceased Aşçıpınar, S.A., were present. The defendant Battal U., who claimed that Bektaş Aşçıpınar disturbed him, said, "He would drug me and make advances. That’s why I killed him. I used to use marijuana. I am innocent, I am innocent. He was a filthy pervert, a cursed man. I had no choice. That’s why I killed him."

S.A., Aşçıpınar's complainant wife, stated, "Battal was a drug addict. He had been constantly threatening my husband for 2 years. He was cursing. Three months before the murder, he said, 'Your death will be at my hands.' This was said by a friend of my husband after the incident. At the moment of the incident, there was a noise. I looked and saw that he was stabbing my husband. I picked up a metal rod from the ground. When I hit him with it, he tried to stab me this time. My husband prevented him in that state. I am a complainant."
HEARING ADJOURNED
In the hearing where 4 witnesses were heard, the court decided to refer the defendant to the Forensic Medicine Institution to determine whether he has criminal responsibility and adjourned the hearing.
