After the heavy rainfall in Aydın's Nazilli district, a person swept away by the rising current of the Mergen Stream was rescued by teams after a 4-hour struggle for life. It was learned that the health condition of the citizen, who managed to hold onto grass and branches in the stream to avoid being swept away, remains serious after being taken to the hospital.
A person who was swept away by the rising current in a stream in Aydın's Nazilli district miraculously survived.
SWEPT AWAY WITH HIS VEHICLE
The incident occurred in the Mergen Stream area of Nazilli district. According to the information obtained, the vehicle driven by Y.H. was caught by the suddenly rising water level while trying to pass under a bridge. The driver, who was allegedly under the influence of alcohol, could not resist the rapidly intensifying current and was swept away along with his vehicle.
TEAMS MOBILIZED
Upon notification, fire, gendarmerie, and health teams were dispatched to the area. As the rainfall increased, the water flow rose, and rescue efforts were expanded. AFAD, Gendarmerie Search and Rescue, UMKE, NAFAD, NAKSAR, and Yesevi Search and Rescue teams also joined the efforts.
FOUGHT FOR SURVIVAL FOR 4 HOURS
Y.H., who was swept away by the current for meters, tried to survive by holding onto branches and pieces of grass. After intense efforts involving approximately 100 personnel that lasted 4 hours, the teams safely rescued Y.H. from the location where he was found.
HE IS STILL IN CRITICAL CONDITION
The rescued Y.H. was taken to Nazilli State Hospital by ambulance after the first intervention at the scene. It was reported that the health condition of the citizen under treatment remains serious.
