Beşşar Al Tawıl, who was injured when a motorcycle struck him as he was trying to cross the road in Esenyurt, left the hospital after his treatment. His relatives, who had no news of him, spotted him in a video and found him lying unconscious in the hospital garden two days later. Taken to another hospital, Tawıl died 15 days later.
In Esenyurt Köyiçi, on Sunday, August 1, at around 12:00, Syrian national Beşşar Al Tawıl, who was crossing the road to go to work, was injured after being hit by a fast-moving motorcycle. After the accident, the motorcyclist fled, and teams were dispatched to the area upon reports from bystanders. Following initial intervention, Beşşar Al Tawıl was taken by ambulance to a hospital in Esenyurt. His relatives, who could not reach him, saw him lying unconscious in the hospital garden in a video shared on social media two days later.
THEY TOOK HIM TO THE HOSPITAL BECAUSE HE WAS UNCONSCIOUS His relatives, who went to the hospital, took Beşşar Al Tawıl home with their own means. His relatives, claiming he was unconscious, called 112 and requested an ambulance. Health teams who came to the house took Beşşar Al Tawıl to a hospital in İstinye. Beşşar Al Tawıl, who was treated in the intensive care unit, died 15 days later, on August 16. Al Tawıl's body was taken by his relatives and brought to his homeland, Syria, for burial.
"WE PROVIDED HIS TREATMENT," THEY SAID Beşşar Al Tawıl's cousin Abdulhamit Hac Huseyin said, "I reached my cousin after 2 days. He was lying unconscious in front of the hospital. I asked the hospital, and they said, 'We provided his treatment.' Then I took him and brought him home."
Stating that they took his cousin to the hospital with the ambulance they called, Hüseyin said, "I learned that my cousin had a problem, pressure in his head. When we watched the footage, the person who hit my cousin was passing very fast. Then we heard the person who hit him went to the military without receiving any punishment. My cousin was lying in front of the hospital. If he had been intervened earlier, maybe he would be alive now."
"HE LAY IN FRONT OF THE HOSPITAL FOR 2 DAYS" Beşşar Al Tawıl's other cousin, Ahmet Hac Hüseyin, said, "My cousin was 22 years old. He lived alone in a bachelor's apartment. He worked in textiles; his whole family is in Syria. I also learned about it through social media. We went to the hospital and took the boy. When we saw him, he wasn't speaking, his eyes were closed, and he was unconscious. He couldn't even stand. We entered the hospital and asked the doctors. They said, 'We provided his treatment.' No treatment had been given; the boy was unconscious. How could the person who hit my cousin go at 80 kilometers per hour, how could he go that fast? When we took him to the other hospital, the doctors said my cousin had a brain hemorrhage and there was also pressure on his skull. We took him to another hospital ourselves. He stayed there for 2 weeks. Then we received news saying 'He passed away.' He lay in front of the hospital for 2 days. They didn't say anything to us. We are filing a complaint," he said.
FOOTAGE OF HIM LYING ON THE GROUND SURFACED Meanwhile, footage of Beşşar Al Tawıl lying in front of the hospital surfaced. In the footage taken with a mobile phone, a woman standing over Al Tawıl, who was lying on the ground, is heard saying, "Isn't it a pity, a sin? Look at his wounds. I poured water on him."
INVESTIGATION LAUNCHED On the other hand, the Istanbul Provincial Health Directorate launched an investigation to determine whether there was negligence at the hospital.
