In Ankara, a father going through divorce proceedings was caught on camera assaulting his two children, who had been placed under his temporary custody. The mother of the abused children claimed that despite providing this evidence to the prosecutor's office and police visiting the home, the door was not opened. She further alleged that in court, after the father defended himself by saying "I hit them to silence them," the judge postponed the case for 5 months to hear the children's testimony.
A blood-chilling incident occurred in the capital Ankara.
HE APPLIED VIOLENCE TO CHILDREN UNDER TEMPORARY CUSTODY
Moments when a father going through a divorce process applied violence to his own children, who were placed under his temporary custody by the court, were reflected second by second on a mobile phone camera.
In the footage, the father, who ignored his children's pleas of "Okay, dad" and their crying, was clearly seen continuing to brutally abuse them.
The spread of videos related to the incident on the internet created a huge outrage and wave of reactions among social media users.
THEIR MOTHER REBELLED
After the footage dominated the agenda, a woman claiming to be the mother of the beaten children issued a cry for help on social media, recounting her legal struggle and helplessness with these words: "My children were with me; when I left home, I took them with me; I never abandoned my children. I didn't disclose my address due to lack of safety. Since social services didn't come to check, the children were temporarily given to the father. I obtained these videos and submitted them to the prosecutor's office. Although the police went there, they didn't open the door."
According to the mother's allegations, the abusive father came to today's hearing nonchalantly and defended himself in court by saying, "I hit them a few times with a slipper, I am their father, I hit them to silence them."
“DESPITE THE FOOTAGE, THE DECISION WAS DELAYED BY 5 MONTHS”
Stating that the court issued a heartbreaking decision despite the clear video evidence and all objections from her lawyer, the mother continued her words: "Today, even in the hearing, despite these images, the judge postponed the decision for 5 months by saying, 'I will also listen to the children.' No matter how many objections my lawyer made, we could not achieve a result; I resorted to this measure (sharing on social media) this way."
