According to claims, a person who allegedly separated from his spouse and was said to have psychological problems punched the walls of his house at night, then set his apartment on fire and disappeared with his cat.
The incident occurred on Tuesday night around 02:30 in an apartment on Şirin Street in the Merkez neighborhood of Avcılar district. It was reported that Yaşar Ç., who had recently separated from his wife and had psychological problems, set his apartment on fire and left with his cat. A neighbor in the opposite apartment noticed the fire, preventing a larger disaster. Upon notification, many fire crews were dispatched to the scene. The fire crews broke down the door and entered to extinguish the fire. It was learned that the person accused of setting the apartment on fire had also taken his cat and disappeared. An investigation has been initiated regarding the incident. "HE USES DRUGS, HAS ADDICTIONS"Burcu Durmuş, who lives in the apartment and stated that her neighbors warned her during the fire, said, "The man burned his own house and ran away with his cat. They say he is not mentally stable. Neighbors were banging on doors telling us to get downstairs. The fire crews came and told us to evacuate the building. We woke up at that hour of the night. My child was trembling, I barely got him into the car. He is also missing right now," she said. Dursun Ahmet, a neighbor of the burned apartment, said, "It happened after one o'clock. This guy has been single for 3-4 years. He is separated from his wife and children. He uses drugs and has an addiction. He is constantly hitting things. His psychology is disturbed. That night, there was no one around; he must have been in a depression in the dark. He said he would burn the house down. He has a cat and took it with him. Neighbors saw the fire. There are more than 120 people living in 24 apartments here, including children, the elderly, and the sick. We narrowly escaped a major disaster," he said.
