A tragedy occurred in the case regarding the abuse allegation that caused two friends to fall out in Kocaeli a year ago. The woman, who recounted her experiences in the courtroom, stabbed the man she accused of sexually assaulting her in the heart and killed him as she left the hearing.
On July 31, 2025, a dispute broke out between close friends Ahmet Furkan Ö. and Emrah Çeliksoy at a gas station in the Izmit district of Kocaeli.
WENT TO THE HOUSE OF HIS FRIEND WHO STABBED HIM AND OPENED FIRE INJURED
As the argument escalated, Emrah Çeliksoy stabbed Ahmet Furkan Ö. and fled to his home. Ahmet Furkan Ö., injured, arrived at Emrah Çeliksoy’s house by car and opened fire. As a result of the gunfire, Emrah, A.Ç., Y.E., and B.G. were injured.
Ahmet Furkan Ö., who fled the scene, notified the 112 Emergency Call Center about the other injured while heading to the hospital. Upon the notification, health and gendarmerie teams were dispatched to the scene. The health teams, who arrived at the scene shortly, intervened and took the 4 injured to the hospital. Emrah Çeliksoy was arrested and sent to prison in connection with the incident.
"I SAW EMRAH AS A BROTHER"
The trial opened against Emrah Çeliksoy for "attempted murder" and against Ahmet Furkan Ö. for "injury" was held at the Kocaeli 8th High Criminal Court. Sümeyye M. (25), who was heard as a witness during the trial, made various claims. Sümeyye M. stated, "Emrah was a close friend of my husband. Ahmet and I got engaged in 2020, we had a disagreement and broke off the engagement. During this process, Emrah spoke ill of Ahmet to me. Later, he started bringing me flowers and trying to get close to me. I saw him as a brother, and I thought he saw me as a sister too."
ALLEGATION OF "SEXUAL ABUSE"
Sümeyye M. continued her statement: "One day, he called me to the restaurant section of a hotel to talk. Ahmet was having fun with his colleagues elsewhere. Emrah told me about this situation. He showed me these images to make me sad. We drank alcohol together. He said I could stay at the hotel because I was drunk. I accepted to avoid looking that way to my mother. However, he came to the room and sexually abused me. I couldn't say anything to anyone because I was scared. Later, Ahmet and I reconciled and got married. However, he continued to message me from time to time. My husband saw one of his messages and asked about the situation, and I explained everything that happened from the beginning. A few days after this incident, I learned that the injury incident occurred. Ahmet and I divorced because of these events, but he supported me a lot; we have 2 children."
Emrah Çeliksoy denied the witness's statements.
"THEY HAVE ALREADY STABBED ME IN THE HEART"
The detained defendant Ahmet Furkan Ö., who spoke during the trial, stated that he was the victim, saying, "They have already stabbed me in the heart. I went to Emrah's door asking, 'What do you want from me?' but he came at me with a gun. I am detained, he is not; I am the victim. I request my release." The court panel decided to continue the defendant's detention and to postpone the trial.
CHAOS ERUPTED AFTER THE TRIAL
After the trial ended, a new argument broke out between the parties in front of the courthouse. Sümeyye M., who described the sexual abuse she claimed to have suffered in court, approached Emrah Çeliksoy with a knife she obtained from a café across from the courthouse. Unable to control her anger, the young woman stabbed Çeliksoy in the heart. Emrah Çeliksoy, who was taken to the hospital in critical condition, could not be saved despite all interventions and lost his life.
After the incident, Sümeyye M. was detained by the police.
