The person she thought was "Dad" also turned out not to be her biological father
After learning the truth, Eve reached out to Steve after years of searching. Steve said he had donated sperm to make money during his college years and had completely forgotten about it. The two developed a close relationship over time. For many years, Eve called Steve "Dad" and accepted him as her real father.
However, the real shock came when Eve's own child fell ill.

The real father turned out to be her mother's fertility doctor
According to the DNA test, Eve's biological father was Dr. Kim McMorries, who conducted her mother's fertility treatment. Allegedly, the doctor had used his own sperm along with the donor sperm during the treatment.

One of the most striking aspects of the incident was its legal dimension. Eve learned that what happened was only considered a crime in one state in the USA, and due to legal loopholes, it went unpunished in many states, including Texas.
Dr. Kim McMorries retired in 2021. In 2024, he voluntarily surrendered his medical license due to allegations of "lack of informed consent." McMorries defended that the practice was "in accordance with the standards of that time."
Eve Wiley turned her experiences into a struggle. Today, as an active campaigner working for victims of fertility fraud in the USA, Eve's contributions have led to the enactment of laws in 12 states since 2019.
