In a tragic accident that occurred in the Erciş district of Van, a civilian light commercial vehicle crashed into a military vehicle parked on the roadside, resulting in the martyrdom of one of our gendarmerie personnel. In the accident, a total of 5 people, including 4 soldiers, were injured and taken to the hospital for treatment.
A heartbreaking accident that plunged the region into mourning was reported this morning from the Erciş district of Van. In a traffic accident on the Van-Erciş highway, one of our security personnel was martyred, while 5 injured individuals were taken under treatment.
CRASHED INTO A PARKED MILITARY VEHICLE
According to the information obtained, the heart-wrenching accident occurred in the morning hours at the Ünseli village location on the Van-Erciş highway. The civilian light commercial vehicle with license plate 06 DJA 494, traveling from the direction of Van towards Erciş, lost control for an unknown reason and violently crashed into a military vehicle parked on the roadside.
1 GENDARMERIE PERSONNEL FELL AS A MARTYR
Due to the force of the impact, one gendarmerie personnel inside the military vehicle fell as a martyr at the scene. In the accident, 4 comrades-in-arms alongside our martyr and the driver of the civilian light commercial vehicle were also injured in various parts of their bodies.
INJURED TAKEN TO HOSPITAL
Upon the reports of nearby citizens and other passing drivers, numerous health, police, and gendarmerie teams were quickly dispatched to the accident site. Following initial intervention by the health teams arriving at the scene, the 4 injured soldiers and 1 civilian driver were taken to Erciş State Hospital by ambulances and placed under treatment in the emergency department.
The body of our heroic martyr soldier was taken to the morgue of the same hospital after the prosecutor's office investigations at the scene. It was reported that security forces took extensive safety measures at the accident site, while the investigation launched into the tragic accident is ongoing from multiple angles.
