Images have emerged of Gülistan Doku, a student in the Child Development Department at Munzur University who has been missing since January 5, 2020 in Tunceli, singing with children before her disappearance.
The investigation into Gülistan Doku, who went missing in Tunceli on July 5, 2020, and has not been heard from since, continues as new detentions have occurred. New footage related to Doku has also emerged.
BEFORE DISAPPEARING, GÜLİSTAN WAS SINGING WITH CHILDREN In the last footage taken before her disappearance, Doku, a Child Development student at Munzur University, was seen singing with children. One of the images shows Doku lying on a carpet with her nieces in Diyarbakır and singing, while another shows her singing children's songs to students in front of a blackboard at a school where she was doing an internship.
12 SUSPECTS HAD BEEN ARRESTED The family of Gülistan Doku (21), a university student studying in Tunceli, who had not heard from her since January 5, 2020, came from their hometown of Diyarbakır to Tunceli and filed a missing person report with the police on January 6, 2020. Search efforts yielded no results.
In line with new information obtained, 15 suspects were taken into custody as part of an investigation led by the Tunceli Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on charges of "premeditated murder," "sexual assault," "concealing and destroying evidence of a crime," "unlawfully entering an information system to destroy or corrupt data," "deprivation of liberty," "failure to report a crime," and "harboring a criminal."
Among the suspects, the then-Governor of Tunceli, Tuncay Sonel; Tuncay Sonel's son, Mustafa Türkay Sonel; former police officer Gökhan Ertok, who allegedly deleted data from Doku's SIM card; the then-chief physician of Tunceli State Hospital, Çağdaş Özdemir, who allegedly deleted hospital records; former Tunceli Special Provincial Administration employee Erdoğan Elaldı; Celal Altaş; Nurşen Arıkan; Ferhat Hanedan Güven; Doku's boyfriend Zeinal Abakarov; her mother Cemile Yücer; her stepfather and former police officer Engin Yücer; and Şükrü Eroğlu, who served as Tuncay Sonel's protection officer at the time, were arrested. Uğurcan A., along with Savaş G. and Süleyman Ö., who were responsible for Munzur University's security cameras, were released under judicial control with a travel ban.
2 MORE SUSPECTS TAKEN INTO CUSTODY As part of the investigation, a red notice has been issued for fugitive suspect Umut Altaş, who was determined to be abroad. The IT staff of Tunceli State Hospital, B.Y. and Y.E., were also taken into custody and subsequently referred to the courthouse.
