As demand for small livestock increases in sacrificial markets, the orange-colored Sivas Kangal breed lambs are drawing attention. These lambs, waiting for buyers in a market in Eskişehir, are distinguished from other breeds by having their fat located only in their tails.
The Sivas Kangal breed lambs offered for sale at the sacrificial market in Eskişehir are attracting attention due to both their appearance and the taste of their meat.
With the arrival of the Sacrifice Feast, the demand for small livestock in animal markets has increased. Livestock breeder Ali Yılmaz stated that the orange-colored Sivas Kangal lambs are preferred due to their unique color and the fact that their meat is tastier compared to other lambs. It is noted that these lambs, which are distinguished from other breeds by having fat only in their tails, also hold a special place in traditional sacrificial customs. Breeder Yılmaz expressed that the tradition of applying henna is continued with these animals.
"THE MEAT IS DELICIOUS, THAT'S WHY THEY PREFER THEM"
Breeder Ali Yılmaz said about the orange-colored Sivas Kangal breed lambs, "These are our own lambs. Their breed is known as Sivas Kangal. The fat of these animals does not come out between the meats, only from the tail. But the fat of Mernus and other animals comes out between the meat. Its meat is delicious, that's why they prefer it. It is a tradition for us; henna is applied to brides, soldiers, and sacrifices. This is a blessed thing, the sacrifice is a blessed thing," he said.
