Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay stated that the cheapest student transportation in Turkey is in their city, saying, "We are keeping the public transportation fare at 9 lira for our students since August 2025." The city ranks as the cheapest among metropolitan areas with its student fare.
The Mayor of Konya Metropolitan Municipality, Uğur İbrahim Altay, stated that Konya has the cheapest student transportation in Turkey, expressing that they have kept public transport fares at 9 TL for students since August 2025.

In his written statement regarding the issue, Altay noted that Konya, a city for students and youth, stands out with its affordable public transportation fare. He conveyed that making life easier for young people and students is one of their most important responsibilities, and he added:
"Our greatest strength is our youth. To support their dreams and educational journeys, we are making every effort we can, especially in terms of educational support. The cheapest student transportation in Turkey is in Konya. We have kept the public transportation fare for our students at 9 lira since August 2025. Just like last year, we are experiencing the happiness and pride of providing the most affordable student transportation in Turkey in 2026."

Mayor Altay stated that the full fare has been kept at the most affordable level among metropolitan cities, saying, "In public transportation, which concerns all our citizens closely, we continue to keep prices at reasonable levels without compromising on service quality. With the full fare we have set at 22.5 lira, we continue to be one of the cities providing the most affordable transportation among metropolitan municipalities. Our goal is to offer an accessible and sustainable transportation system that considers everyone's budget, from students to workers, retirees to tradespeople. Konya will continue to be an example in transportation, as it is in every field," he said.
Students studying in Konya also stated that transportation in Konya is cheaper than in other cities, mentioning that they can easily reach any desired place in the city by both buses and the existing trams. Emphasizing that being a student in Konya is a very nice feeling and has its advantages, the students expressed that Konya is a student-friendly city.
