In a statement made by the Azerbaijani Ministry of Internal Affairs, it was noted that Karen Avanesyan, an Armenian-origin resident of Khankendi, attempted to approach an event held in the city with a Kalashnikov automatic weapon, 4 loaded magazines, and 5 hand grenades that he had previously hidden in a forested area.
THREW 3 HAND GRENADES AT POLICE, OPENED FIRE WITH A WEAPON
The statement indicated that Avanesyan, who was attempted to be stopped by police teams, resisted the security forces by throwing 3 hand grenades and opening fire with a weapon.
ARRESTED INJURED
It was reported in the statement that the attacker was injured as a result of the fire opened by the police and was taken into custody, and it was also stated that one police officer was injured in the incident. The statement provided information that an investigation has been initiated by the Prosecutor's Office and the State Security Service regarding the matter.
