The indictment prepared regarding the investigation into the death threats made against the public prosecutor who opened the "Newborn Gang" case in Istanbul has been sent to the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office for 14 suspects. The indictment states that the criminal organization discussed and exchanged ideas about a plan to assassinate prosecutor Yavuz Engin.
In the investigation into the Newborn gang, the indictment prepared regarding the scandal of the prosecutor being threatened stated that the criminal organization planned to assassinate prosecutor Yavuz Ergin.
A significant development occurred regarding the Newborn gang scandal that shook Turkey. As a result of the investigation into the death threats made against the public prosecutor who opened the "Newborn Gang" case in Istanbul, an indictment was prepared against 14 suspects.
IT STARTED WITH THE PROSECUTOR'S INITIATIVE
In the indictment prepared by the Büyükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was noted that upon the application of Public Prosecutor Yavuz Engin, an investigation was initiated by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Special Investigation Bureau for the crimes of "attempted murder," "threat," "attempting to influence a judicial officer, expert, or witness," "illegally providing or obtaining data," and "violating the confidentiality of private life."
In the 88-page indictment prepared by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was stated that in a case file conducted by Prosecutor Engin, a complaint was made regarding the suspect Tuğçe Toptemel, who was in custody, that the suspect Aylin Aslantatar had threatened Engin through a WhatsApp call containing death threats directed at him, his family, and his parents.
THEY PLANNED TO ASSASSINATE THE PROSECUTOR
The indictment stated that the leader of the organization, Mustafa Kemal Zengin, and the organization member hitman Muhammed Emin Orhan discussed and exchanged ideas about the assassination plan against Prosecutor Engin via an application just before the investigation began.
It was noted in the indictment that the color, license plate, and model of the vehicle used by Prosecutor Engin were shared, and it was reported which routes he took, including which red lights he stopped at, and this information was conveyed by Zengin to the organization hitman Orhan.
UP TO 72 YEARS IN PRISON REQUESTED
The indictment recorded that the organization members gathered in a parking lot belonging to Baki Çelik, met multiple times to plan actions, and threatened victims by stating that they would carry out an attack on their life, bodily integrity, or sexual inviolability, either through communication tools or face-to-face meetings.
In this context, an indictment was prepared against Mustafa Kemal Zengin, organization leaders Aylin Aslantatar and Gökhan Güler, for a total of 8 separate crimes, including "attempted murder with premeditation due to the public duty performed by the person" and "establishing an organization for the purpose of committing a crime," requesting a prison sentence of 36 to 72 years.
INDICTMENT SENT TO THE CHIEF PUBLIC PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE
The indictment also included other suspects for crimes such as "attempted murder with premeditation due to the public duty performed by the person," "establishing an organization for the purpose of committing a crime," "being a member of an organization established for the purpose of committing a crime," "influencing a judicial officer," "violating the confidentiality of private life," "threatening multiple people using the names of criminal organizations," "obtaining information and documents related to intelligence activities," "illegally obtaining or disseminating personal information," "purchasing, carrying, or possessing unlicensed firearms and ammunition," and "knowingly and willingly aiding the organization," with varying prison sentences proposed for the suspects.
The prepared indictment was sent to the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office for evaluation.
