Three individuals suspected of planning a terrorist attack against politicians in Belgium have been detained. According to a statement from the Federal Prosecutor's Office, the suspects used a 3D printer to produce parts intended for the attack and expressed an intention to create drones capable of carrying payloads. Local media also claimed that among the politicians targeted by the suspects was Prime Minister Wever.
The Belgian Federal Prosecutor's Office announced that 3 individuals suspected of planning terrorist attacks against politicians have been detained.
ATTACK PLAN AGAINST POLITICIANS IN BELGIUM In a statement from the prosecutor's office, it was reported that 3 suspects, born in 2001, 2002, and 2007, residing in the city of Antwerp, were detained as part of an investigation into various crimes, including "attempted murder for terrorist purposes and participation in the activities of a terrorist organization." The statement indicated that there were signs of the suspects' intention to carry out a terrorist attack targeting politicians.
THEY WOULD PRODUCE PARTS WITH A 3D PRINTER AND TRANSPORT THEM WITH A DRONE It was noted that a device resembling a homemade explosive (EYP) mechanism, which was not operational, and a bag filled with steel balls were seized from one of the suspects' residences, while a 3D printer, believed to have been acquired for the production of parts to be used in the attack, was found in another residence. The statement mentioned that the suspects intended to create a drone capable of carrying loads.
ONE OF THE SUSPECTS WAS RELEASED In the statement, it was recorded that two of the detained suspects were being interrogated by the Antwerp federal police, while the other was released during the day. It was noted that no further information would be provided at this stage to avoid jeopardizing the investigation. The statement highlighted that approximately 80 terrorism investigations have been opened in 2025 so far, surpassing the number from the same period in 2024.
THEY ALSO TARGETED PRIME MINISTER WEVER The local newspaper "Het Gazet van Antwerpen" claimed that among the politicians the suspects planned to attack was Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever.

Prevot emphasized that this incident reminds us that the threat of terrorism is still real and that we must remain prepared, stating, "Belgium is actively strengthening its capabilities to deal with new forms of terrorism, including the fight against the malicious use of drones."
