It has been suggested that the United States will send 200 soldiers to Israel to monitor the ceasefire agreement that has been reached and is expected to come into effect in Gaza. U.S. officials, noting that no American soldiers will be sent to Gaza, argued that the new team would "help monitor the implementation of the ceasefire agreement and the transition to a civilian government in Gaza."

U.S. officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, provided a statement to the Associated Press (AP) regarding the matter. Officials stated that the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) will establish a "civil-military coordination center" in Israel, noting that this structure will "facilitate the flow of humanitarian aid as well as logistical and security support."

THEY WILL MONITOR THE CEASEFIRE AGREEMENT

Officials said that the U.S. will send approximately 200 military personnel to Israel as part of a team that includes partner countries and non-governmental organizations to support and monitor the ceasefire agreement expected to be implemented in Gaza. One official argued that the new team will "help monitor the implementation of the ceasefire agreement and the transition to a civilian government in Gaza."

SOME SOLDIERS IN THE REGION

Officials indicated that no U.S. soldiers will be sent to Gaza, noting that some soldiers have already arrived and will continue to travel to the region to begin work on establishing the center over the weekend.
