Sources from the Ministry of National Defense stated the following regarding questions about whether the Turkish Armed Forces will be part of the Task Force to operate in Gaza, following President Erdoğan's recent statements: "The Turkish Armed Forces have carried out numerous missions organized by various organizations in different geographies to date, in order to maintain international peace and security, and have earned the appreciation of all parties with their professionalism and fair attitude. Our Turkish Armed Forces, which have experience in establishing and maintaining peace, are ready for any task that may be entrusted to them."

STATUS OF EUROFIGHTER PROCUREMENT

Ministry sources also shared the following information regarding the current status of Eurofighter procurement: "Our Air Force Command is continuing its efforts to acquire modern combat aircraft equipped with advanced technology and to diversify the inventory until our national aircraft KAAN enters service, in order to meet operational needs."

There is currently no finalized situation regarding Eurofighter procurement. The public will be informed when the contract reaches the approval stage. We would like to remind once again that statements made outside of official sources should not be taken into account."

RECENT DEVELOPMENTS IN SYRIA

Ministry sources provided the following answers to questions regarding recent developments in Syria: "We see the elections held in Syria as an important and positive step for the country's unitary structure, security, stability, and the peace of the region. The SDG terrorist organization, which attacked Syrian government forces in the countryside of Manbij and Aleppo, has once again demonstrated that it does not act in accordance with the agreement signed with the Syrian Government on March 10, 2025, and poses a threat to regional peace and stability."

On the other hand, contacts and discussions between the Syrian Government and the SDG terrorist organization are being monitored with attention and sensitivity. Turkey is focusing not on the meetings and discussions, but on the reflections of the signed agreement in the field and continues to support the principle of 'One State, One Army' in Syria."

ABOUT THE IDENTIFIED UAVs IN THE OPEN SEAS OF TRABZON AND ARTVIN

Ministry sources stated the following regarding questions about the UAVs identified in the open seas of Trabzon and Artvin: "Within the framework of the principle of regional ownership in the Black Sea; reconnaissance and surveillance activities from the air and sea continue 24 hours a day for the detection and destruction of drifting mines/UAVs/UAVs to keep sea routes open and ensure freedom of navigation."

On October 7, it was reported by our Naval Forces and the Coast Guard Command that suspicious objects assessed to be UAVs were detected by a fisheries research vessel off the coast of Trabzon and by a fishing boat off the coast of Artvin. The identified UAVs were destroyed by our SAS teams sent to the region. We are also in discussions with Ukraine to develop new measures and cooperation in this regard. As we have emphasized before, all our citizens, especially fishermen who see or detect suspicious objects, should be careful and promptly inform our security units without any intervention."

Turkey's PARTICIPATION IN THE SAFE PROGRAM

Ministry sources responded to questions regarding attempts to exclude Turkey from the SAFE mechanism (European Defense and Security Architecture) as follows: "The SAFE Regulation was adopted by the EU Council on May 27, 2025. While our country is open as a candidate country in this mechanism, the regulation includes many restrictive measures against non-EU member countries."

We are witnessing attempts to exclude non-EU member allies, including our country, from the EU Defense and Security Architecture or to use them as a bargaining chip. It appears that some EU members are pursuing the dream of realizing their maximalist ambitions by blocking very important decisions for EU security.

We believe that European security can only be strengthened through inclusivity, strategic foresight, and collective solidarity, and that a visionary approach is needed for this. In this context, we believe that our country's defense capabilities will make significant contributions to European defense and security. This situation is also expressed by many of our allies who are EU members. In this framework, our efforts to develop defense cooperation within or outside the SAFE mechanism with our open-minded and foresighted European allies will continue in the upcoming process.
