COLUMNS FOUND IN LAKE IZNIK WHERE THE WATERS HAVE RETREATED
A person who entered the water to cool off on the Orhangazi shore of Lake Iznik noticed many large stones in the area where the waters had receded. Upon examining the stones, the person saw that there were carvings on them and reported the situation to the Iznik Museum Directorate. Following the report, teams from the Orhangazi District Police Department went to the area and took security measures at the location where the column capitals were found.
It was learned that the period to which the artifacts in the water belong will be clarified as a result of the examinations to be conducted, and it is considered that the column capitals may be historical artifacts.
