In his statement, Hasan Özılgın said, "A few days ago, there was a dispute with the gendarmerie personnel at the gendarmerie checkpoint that was also reflected to the public. Due to my position as the district chairman, I felt the need to make a statement to the public. First of all, the dispute that occurred there does not contain any accusations that would put our security forces in doubt. It is a problem related to the arbitrary attitude of the person there. I did not mention my political identity at all during the dispute. Nevertheless, I do not approve of the language and tone I used there. Under the responsibility of being part of an organization of a political party that has made serving its citizens its principle for 24 years and a world leader, due to my respect for my cause and my leader, I am resigning from my position as district chairman as of today. From now on, I will continue to be a servant of the AK Party cause on every platform," he stated.
