The decision by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) to reduce the transportation discount for students over the age of 30 to 10% has been annulled by the court. As of today, students over the age of 30 will also be able to benefit from discounted transportation.
AK Party Istanbul Provincial Chairman Abdullah Özdemir announced that the decision of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) to reduce the Istanbulkart discount rate for students over the age of 30 to 10% has been canceled.
The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) made a decision on July 11, 2024, regarding students over the age of 30, and the discount rate for these students was reduced to 10%.

A critical development occurred regarding the decision that has been causing reactions since the day it was accepted. AK Party Istanbul Provincial Chairman Abdullah Özdemir reported that the IMM's decision was canceled through the legal struggle initiated by the AK Party.

Özdemir announced on his social media account, "Dear Istanbulites, we have regained the right to discounts for students in public transportation, which was seized by the IMM administration, through our legal struggle. From today onwards, students over the age of 30 can also benefit from discounted transportation. As long as the AK Party exists, no obstacle placed in front of our nation will be permanent. I thank our AK Party council members who carried out the legal struggle against the IMM decision for their efforts.
