Hit one, hit the other! Erdal Beşikçioğlu tried to cover up his scandalous appointments with what the previous president did.

In the March 31 elections, Erdal Beşikçioğlu, who was nominated by the CHP in Ankara Etimesgut, won the election and took over the position from MHP's Enver Demirel. Mayor Beşikçioğlu held the September Municipal Council Meeting the other day. Among the agenda items of the meeting were the appointments made by Beşikçioğlu.

"MY NEPHEW IS A PERSON I TRUST"

AK Party Deputy Group Chairman Uğur Çağlar reminded that Gökhan Beşikçioğlu, the nephew of Beşikçioğlu, was appointed as the Facilities Coordinator, and Nursemin Bellek, the wife of Deputy Mayor İhsan Bahri Bellek, was appointed as the Private Secretary. Beşikçioğlu responded harshly to Çağlar, saying, "You are absolutely right. But my nephew is a person I trust and he provides consultancy services to the municipality without receiving any salary, considering his infrastructure and qualifications. Nursemin Bellek was working as the Private Secretary at Istanbul Kültür University before coming to Etimesgut. She has a better resume than you."

Beşikçioğlu responded to the merit criticism directed at him by referring to the appointments made during Enver Demirel's term. Beşikçioğlu announced that 61 people who are relatives of Demirel were working in the municipality. Beşikçioğlu stated that 35 of these people were civil servants and said, "In our directorates, some administrators' close relatives, even though they are high school graduates, have been appointed to directorate positions. I don't want to read their names here, but there are about 35 employees, 10 of them have the surname Demirel, 10 of them have the surnames Yılmaz, Yalçın, and Gökdemir. They are high school graduates, they entered the institution and then were appointed as civil servants. These are Enver Bey's first-degree relatives. Deputy mayors are first-degree relatives."

"HAS YOUR MIND JUST COME TO YOU NOW?"

Beşikçioğlu stated that they have identified 61 people so far and said, "These are the ones we could identify. There are also those we couldn't identify. These 61 people, as our friend said, were appointed based on merit, based on merit! Then when they say 'merit' to me, I wonder 'where were you in the past when your mind just came to you?' But I don't ask because it would give them the right to reply. If we really want our municipality to provide correct, proper, and merit-based services, I believe that the employment contracts of our council members, including the relatives of our mayors, should be terminated, including the past periods. I do not accept the majority vote on this matter. We should make this decision unanimously in front of our entire nation."
