The General Directorate of Meteorology announced that thunderstorms are expected across Turkey during the week of Ramadan Bayram. It was reported that the rainfall, which may take the form of floods, will be particularly strong in the Marmara, Aegean, Mediterranean, and Southeastern Anatolia regions, while it will be less intense in the Central Anatolia region and the coastal areas of the Black Sea. Additionally, rainfall is expected in three major cities throughout the week.

The Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change's Meteorology General Directorate Weather Forecast Specialist Cengiz Çelik provided evaluations regarding the weather conditions for the week that includes Ramadan Bayram.

Çelik stated that rain will only be seen in the western regions on Friday, saying, "We expect intermittent thunderstorms across the entire country for 9 days starting from the day before the holiday."

Çelik reported that temperatures will decrease by 3-4 degrees but will still remain above seasonal norms, adding that the rainfall will be particularly strong in the Marmara, Aegean, Mediterranean, and Southeastern Anatolia regions.

Çelik explained that the intensity of the rainfall will be less in the Central Anatolia region and the coastal areas of the Black Sea.

RAIN EXPECTED IN 3 METROPOLISES FOR A WEEK

Starting from tomorrow, Çelik expressed that strong winds will be observed for 3 days, stating, "We expect the wind from southern directions to increase in the western and all inland regions on Saturday. On Sunday, we anticipate winds from southern directions in the eastern regions."

Çelik noted that thunderstorms are expected in 3 metropolises starting from tomorrow, indicating that the rainfall will be effective in Ankara from the evening hours.

Çelik mentioned that rainfall will be observed in 3 metropolises for a week starting from the day before the holiday, saying, "The rainfall will be strong in Izmir on Saturday. Precautions should be taken against hail, lightning, and strong winds during the rainfall."

Çelik reported that temperatures will range from 18-20 degrees in Ankara and Istanbul, and 19-21 degrees in Izmir starting from the day before the holiday.

THE FIRST DAY OF THE HOLIDAY WILL BE RAINY IN MOST OF TURKEY

NTV Meteorology Editor Dilek Çalışkan stated, "These rains will start on Saturday, first in Marmara and the Aegean, and on the first day of the holiday, almost a large part of Turkey will be affected by thunderstorms and heavy rain."

Çalışkan added that the rainfall will be short-lived but very intense, potentially causing hail, tornadoes, lightning, and thunder.

THERE IS A RISK OF FLOODING

According to experts, the rainy weather brings a risk of flooding in some cities, especially in Istanbul and Izmir. Temperatures are expected to drop by 4-5 degrees.

Çalışkan emphasized, "The rainfall will be very intense along Izmir, Bergama, Balıkesir, Manisa, Thrace, Çorlu, Tekirdağ, Bursa, and Yalova. Therefore, precautions should be taken against floods and waterlogging. There will be heavy rain in Istanbul between the afternoon and evening. Since it will rain very heavily in some areas on Saturday, precautions should be taken against floods and waterlogging. The Mediterranean region will be under the influence of heavy rain. There is a risk of tornado formation along the coasts."

The rainy weather is expected to reach the capital Ankara and all of Central Anatolia on Saturday. The cool and rainy weather is expected to be effective across the country for a week.
