An explosion at a gas station in Rome, the capital of Italy, resulted in injuries to more than 20 people. Footage from the moment of the incident showed a massive fireball erupting from the gas station, with smoke rising from the location of the station and surrounding buildings.
A powerful explosion was heard throughout the city at a station selling gasoline, diesel, and liquefied gas in the eastern part of Rome, the capital of Italy.
The explosion resulted in injuries to more than 20 people, including 8 police officers and a firefighter. The Italian ANSA Agency reported that none of the injured are in critical condition.
EMERGENCY TEAMS IN THE AREA
It was reported that emergency teams were called to the area after a truck damaged a pipeline at the gas station, and that officials arrived at the scene before the explosion. The fire caused by the explosion also spread to a nearby warehouse, and the shockwave caused damage to surrounding buildings.

Rome's Mayor Roberto Gualtieri announced that a total of 20 people were lightly injured. Footage shared on social media showed a massive fireball erupting from the gas station, with smoke rising from the location of the station and surrounding buildings. Some images revealed that the gas station was completely engulfed in flames.

The Italian Prime Minister's Office also issued a statement announcing that Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni is closely monitoring the situation.
