A building adjacent to a construction site undergoing demolition as part of urban transformation in Istanbul's Beylikdüzü district suffered major damage. During the demolition, workers broke the bathroom wall of an apartment in the neighboring building and attempted to downplay the situation by calling the homeowner, Rezan Yalçın, saying, "One tile in your bathroom was broken." However, after receiving the call, the unfortunate woman rushed to the scene and couldn't believe her eyes at what she saw.
During the demolition of a site within the scope of urban transformation in Beylikdüzü, the bathroom wall of a flat in the adjacent building collapsed.
COULDN'T BELIEVE HIS EYES WHEN HE SAW HIS HOME
The incident occurred in the Yakuplu neighborhood. While the demolition of a site was being carried out as part of urban transformation, the excavator operator accidentally damaged the adjacent building as well. Noticing that the wall of a flat's bathroom had collapsed, the workers called the homeowner Rezan Yalçın and told him that one tile of his bathroom had broken. Yalçın, who was not at home, saw upon returning that his bathroom wall was gone.
"WE WERE TOLD THE DAMAGE WOULD BE COVERED, WE ARE WAITING"
Speaking about the incident, Yalçın said, "I am the owner of the flat whose wall was collapsed in that building you see over there. They started the demolition phase yesterday. Around 2 PM, I received a call. They said, 'Ma'am, one tile of yours has broken, could you come and check?' We came, and the bathroom was gone, completely gone. Right now, of course, we have no way to use it. We were told the damage would be covered, we are waiting. As I said, we encountered such an incident; I am glad no one was harmed. There was no one at home. The cats were not in the bathroom. So we are happy about that, but of course it was a sad thing. There was nothing we could do; we weren't at home, thankfully."
