Recently, in Kastamonu, where nearly 2 meters of snow fell, water has not been supplied to many neighborhoods of the city due to a malfunction that occurred on January 4th in the supply line and has since been repaired. Citizens expressed their frustration, stating that they have been without water for about 2.5 days.
A malfunction occurred in the water supply line providing drinking water from the Karaçomak Dam to the center of Kastamonu on January 4 at around 01:00. Due to the malfunction, the water in the city was cut off on January 4, and Kastamonu Municipality teams started working to repair the water supply line located 5 meters underground.
IT WAS ANNOUNCED THAT WATER SUPPLY HAS STARTED, BUT...
After the work carried out by the teams, it was stated in an announcement made on the municipality's social media accounts yesterday morning that water supply to the city had begun, saying, "Water has been supplied to the line in a planned manner since the malfunction in the Karaçomak Dam Water Supply Line was resolved. However, due to the complete emptying of the main water supply line during the malfunction process and the low water level in the Karaçomak Dam, the water is reaching some areas of our city with a delay. Although there is currently no malfunction in the main water supply line, drinking water will gradually reach all areas of our city as the lines and water tanks refill," it was stated.
DESPITE THE RESOLUTION OF THE MALFUNCTION, WATER DID NOT FLOW
Despite the municipality announcing that the malfunction had been resolved, water could not be supplied to many neighborhoods in the city even a day later. Citizens, reacting to the water being cut off for 2.5 days, purchased drinking water from markets. The 5-liter drinking water bottles in the markets ran out quickly. Citizens stated that despite the announcement of the repair of the malfunction, water was still not flowing in their homes a day later.
