A notable development occurred before the Divan Kurulu Meeting to be held on Saturday, March 1, in Beşiktaş. The expulsion of former president Hasan Arat from the club has come to the agenda.
SOME MEMBERS WANT HIS EXPULSION
According to the news by Sercan Dikme; some congress members in Beşiktaş wrote a petition for the "definite expulsion" of the club's former president Hasan Arat and sent these petitions to the board of directors. The Beşiktaş Management sent the written petitions directly to the Disciplinary Board without delay.
ARAT WILL NOT ATTEND THE DIVAN
It is not expected that Hasan Arat will attend the Divan Kurulu Meeting to be held on Saturday, March 1. Hasan Arat, who was elected to the presidency in the extraordinary congress of Beşiktaş in December 2023, left the presidency on November 29, 2024, after approximately one year in office.
WHAT HAPPENED DURING HASAN ARAT'S RESIGNATION PROCESS
In the process that led to the resignation of president Hasan Arat, the poor performance of the football team, as well as the incompatibilities among some executives, played a significant role.
Due to the growing problems caused by disagreements in the board of directors, the paths of football team general coordinator Samet Aybaba and board advisor Brad Friedel were separated on the night of November 26-27.
It drew reactions that this decision was communicated to Aybaba, who is considered one of the legendary football players of the black-and-whites, via WhatsApp, while on November 27, vice president Onur Göçmez and board member responsible for communication Işıl Zeybek resigned from their positions. After the board meeting held at Tüpraş Stadium, Göçmez withdrew his resignation, and Hüseyin Yücel was appointed as the head of Football AŞ.
In a statement, Hasan Arat emphasized that "genuine shocks are better than false balances," stating that Beşiktaş is not a club to be subjected to a coup, and he continued his duties, highlighting that they would overcome the difficulties.
However, just 48 hours after these statements, he announced that he had resigned from his position due to special reasons (health issues) following the 3-1 defeat against the Israeli team Maccabi Tel Aviv in the 5th week of the UEFA Europa League. In the subsequent extraordinary congress, Serdal Adalı, who competed against Hüseyin Yücel, won the election and took the presidency.
