A horrific accident occurred in the Genç district of Bingöl when a light commercial vehicle veered out of control and plunged off a cliff from a height of approximately 600 meters. Four people in the vehicle, which was reduced to a pile of metal, lost their lives at the scene, while five others seriously injured were taken to the hospital for treatment.

VEHICLE OUT OF CONTROL PLUNGED DOWN THE CLIFF IT FELL INTO
The accident occurred at night near the Yazılı village in the Servi region of the Genç district. According to the information obtained, the light commercial vehicle with license plate 23 ABR 942, driven by Mehmet Akgönül, which was traveling from Yatansöğüt village towards Yazılı village, went out of control due to the driver losing control of the steering wheel for an undetermined reason. The vehicle slid off the embankment and rolled down a cliff of approximately 600 meters.
4 PEOPLE DIED AT THE SCENE, 5 INJURED ARE IN SERIOUS CONDITION
Upon the notification, numerous health, AFAD, UMKE, fire brigade, and gendarmerie teams were dispatched to the region. As a result of search and rescue operations carried out under difficult terrain conditions, it was determined that the driver Mehmet Akgönül, along with Hasan Bingöl, Osman Aslan, and Barış Ayvaz, lost their lives in the vehicle that was reduced to scrap metal.
Those rescued injured from the accident, İ.A., C.T., B.A., M.A., and A.B., were extracted from the cliff with intense efforts by the teams and were referred to Genç State Hospital by ambulances. While it was learned that the vital signs of the 5 injured individuals under treatment remain critical, gendarmerie teams launched a comprehensive investigation into the horrific accident.
