During the installation of water pipes in the Acıpayam district of Denizli, fragments of human bones dating back to 1500 BC and five historical jars were found.
In the Acıpayam district of Denizli, bone fragments determined to belong to a human were found in a soil tube excavated for laying a water pipe. The bones are estimated to date back to 1500 BC, and excavation work has begun in the area where four more pots were identified.
THE AREA HAS BEEN SECURED
While the General Directorate of State Hydraulic Works (DSI) teams were continuing agricultural irrigation line works in the Ucarı neighborhood of Acıpayam district, they broke a large soil pot about 2 meters deep while digging to lay pipes. Upon the report of the teams who saw a skeleton inside the pot, the area was secured by gendarmerie teams.
A COMPREHENSIVE EXCAVATION WORK HAS BEGUN IN THE AREA
Officials from the Denizli Museum Directorate, who examined the pot and the skeleton found, determined that it belonged to a human. After assessing that the human bones date back to 1500 BC, a comprehensive excavation work was initiated in the area after it was determined that there were four more pots in addition to the broken pot. It was noted that a statement would be made after the ongoing excavation and examinations are completed.
