Iran has arrested more than 700 people in the past 12 days on the grounds of being connected to Israel. This statement was made by state-affiliated media immediately after a ceasefire reached following nearly two weeks of conflict between the two countries.
The Fars News Agency reported that "since the beginning of Israel's attacks on Iran, the Zionist regime's spy network has become quite active in the country."
Additionally, the Mizan News Agency, affiliated with the Iranian judiciary, announced that three people were executed on charges of collaborating with Israel. The names of the executed individuals were disclosed as Idris Ali, Azad Shucai, and Resul Ahmed Resul. It was alleged that these individuals smuggled equipment used in the assassination of an unnamed person into Iran.
The agency stated that the individuals were tried for "collaborating in favor of the Zionist regime" and that the death sentences handed down to them were carried out this morning. The executions took place in the northwestern city of Urmia, near the Turkish border.
Tehran frequently announces that foreign intelligence agents working on behalf of countries like Israel are often arrested and executed. Iran also frequently expresses its commitment to "destroy" Israel.
According to human rights organizations such as Amnesty International, Iran is the second country in the world after China in terms of the number of death sentences carried out.
Moreover, Iran had also announced the execution of individuals accused of being Mossad agents last Sunday and Monday.
On June 13, Israel launched an attack on Iran to eliminate the "existential threats" posed by Iran's nuclear and ballistic missile programs. Following this attack, Tehran promised swift trials and punishments for those believed to be connected to Israel.
