A sheep herd was caught in a blizzard in the Ayrancı district of Karaman. 350 sheep and one donkey froze to death. SHEEP HERD CAUGHT IN A BLIZZARDThe incident occurred in the Yurt Pınarı Sağcabükü area of Berendi village, which is part of the district. According to the information obtained, the herd of 900 sheep returning from the pasture was caught in the blizzard. The shepherds of the sheep herd, Erdal A. and Mehmet T., called the 112 Emergency Call Center to request help, and as a result, gendarmerie and Provincial Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) teams were dispatched to the area. 350 SHEEP AND A DONKEY FROZE TO DEATHThe teams, who had difficulty reaching the area, were able to find the sheep herd lost in the blizzard after several hours. It was determined that the donkey and 350 sheep in the herd had frozen to death. The teams then rescued the surviving sheep along with the shepherds and brought them back to the village. It was learned that nearly a thousand sheep were stranded in the blizzard and that help was awaited for their rescue.
