HE SET UP AN AMBUSH NEAR THE HOUSE
The incident occurred last night in the Umurbey neighborhood of Gediz district. According to allegations, after Şükriye G., with whom he had previously lived, obtained a restraining order against him, Akif T. came near the woman's house last evening and set up an ambush. As they tried to enter their home, Akif T. opened fire on Şükriye G. and her son Fatih G. The mother and son were wounded by bullets that struck various parts of their bodies. Akif T. fled after the incident.
Upon reports from nearby residents who heard the gunshots, numerous police and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. The injured Şükriye G. and her son were taken to Gediz State Hospital and placed under treatment after first aid by the medical team at the scene. Şükriye G., whose condition was serious, was referred to Kütahya Evliya Çelebi Training and Research Hospital after initial treatment there. It was reported that her son Fatih G.'s health condition was good and that he was not in life-threatening danger.
HE ATTEMPTED SUICIDE WHEN CORNERED
After the incident, police teams launched an investigation and determined that Akif T. had gone to Pınarbaşı village. With the support of gendarmerie teams, Akif T. was cornered where he was hiding in the village. Realizing that he would be caught, Akif T. attempted suicide with the pistol he had used in the incident. Akif T., who was wounded in the head, was taken to Gediz State Hospital and placed under treatment after first aid by medical teams dispatched to the scene. Akif T., whose health condition was reported to be serious, was referred to Kütahya Evliya Çelebi Training and Research Hospital.
It was reported that the police investigation into the incident is ongoing.
