NEARLY 10,000 PEOPLE'S CITIZENSHIP HAS BEEN REVOKED
According to local media, the Kuwait Official Gazette (Kuwait Today) published 4 decrees and 2 decisions regarding the removal of 9,464 individuals from Kuwaiti citizenship.
HALF OF THEM ARE WOMEN
The first decree involved the removal of 5,694 women and those who obtained Kuwaiti citizenship based on their ties, the second decree revoked the citizenship of 38 individuals, and the third decree decided on the removal of those who obtained Kuwaiti citizenship based on their ties.
The fourth decree included the provision for "the revocation of citizenship for 3,724 women and their dependents," while two Cabinet decisions also stipulated the revocation of citizenship documents for 4 individuals and their 4 dependents.
This is not the first decision taken by Kuwait regarding the review of the decisions of individuals who have acquired citizenship in the country.
On February 9, Kuwait had also decided to revoke the citizenship of 4,135 women following the approval of the Cabinet. This decision also included those who obtained citizenship based on their ties to these women. Kuwaiti authorities initiated a process in September 2024 targeting "fake and dual citizenship cases," including those dating back several decades.
