2 people died in a truck that crashed into barriers in Çanakkale. In the accident that occurred at night near the Umurbey junction, one of those who lost their lives was Turkish, the other was of Afghan nationality. The investigation continues.
Two people lost their lives in a terrible accident in Çanakkale when a truck that went out of control crashed into barriers at a highway junction. No one survived from the vehicle that was reduced to scrap.
CRASHED INTO BARRIERS AT HIGH SPEED
The accident occurred at around 03:30 at night on the Çanakkale-Lapseki highway. The truck with license plate 35 BYJ 334, traveling from the Çanakkale direction towards Lapseki, crashed at high speed into the barriers at the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge connection road junction after passing the Umurbey intersection, for a reason not yet determined.
PLUNGED INTO BARRIERS LIKE AN ARROW
The cabin of the truck, which plunged into the barriers almost like an arrow, was completely shattered by the force of the impact. Upon the report, numerous police, gendarmerie, fire brigade, and medical teams were dispatched to the scene.
THEY LOST THEIR LIVES AT THE SCENE
During checks by medical teams, it was determined that Arif Silleli and Zekrullah Khodayar Muhammed, a citizen of Afghanistan, who were in the vehicle, had lost their lives at the scene of the accident. After the examinations, the bodies were taken to the Lapseki State Hospital morgue.
The 1915 Çanakkale Bridge connection road, which was closed to traffic for a while due to the accident, was reopened to transportation after the overturned truck was removed with a tow truck and road cleaning work was completed. The investigation into the incident continues.
