As part of the investigation into 'promoting, facilitating, or coercing prostitution' conducted in Konya, it was determined that prostitution was taking place in 10 different massage parlors operating throughout the city after a 3-month project-based study. In the operation named 'Checkmate,' 21 out of 28 suspects who were detained were arrested and sent to prison. A total of 74 women who were victims were rescued.
After the findings made by the Konya Provincial Police Department's Public Order Branch, a large-scale operation called 'Checkmate' was organized.
74 VICTIMIZED WOMEN RESCUED
The operation, consisting of 90 teams and involving a total of 239 police officers, was carried out simultaneously at many addresses. A total of 28 suspects were detained during the operation. At the same time, 74 women who were identified as victims of prostitution were rescued.
A LARGE AMOUNT OF MONEY AND CRIMINAL EVIDENCE SEIZED
During the searches conducted at the homes, workplaces, and vehicles of the suspects, a large amount of money, various currencies, and gold were seized, including 915,610 lira, 530 Euros, 175 US dollars, 5 Ukrainian hryvnias, 5 Georgian lari, and 18 grams of gold. Additionally, during the searches, 1 blank-firing gun, 4 hunting rifles, 1 unlicensed pistol, 92 cartridges of various calibers, 12 camera recording devices, 20 alarm systems, 10 alarm remotes, and 25 walkie-talkies were found. Various amounts of narcotic substances were also seized.
21 OUT OF 28 SUSPECTS ARRESTED
The 28 suspects who were caught were referred to the judicial authorities after their procedures at the police station. While 7 of the suspects were released under judicial control, 21 suspects were arrested and sent to prison.
