The verdict was announced in the trial of Görele's former Mayor Hasbi Dede, who was tried for harassment. Hasbi Dede, prosecuted for 'sexual harassment of a child by taking advantage of the convenience provided by electronic communication tools' against 16-year-old high school student Tuana Elif Torun, was sentenced to 1 year and 6 months in prison. The court decided not to suspend the announcement of the verdict.
A verdict has been reached regarding Hasbi Dede, the former CHP mayor of Görele district in Giresun, who was tried on charges of “sexual harassment against a child.” The court sentenced the defendant to 1 year and 6 months in prison and ruled that the announcement of the verdict would not be deferred.
INDICTMENT SOUGHT UP TO 4.5 YEARS IN PRISON
In the indictment prepared by the Görele Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, prison sentences ranging from 9 months to 4 years and 6 months were sought against Hasbi Dede.
At the third hearing of the case heard at the Görele 1st Criminal Court of First Instance, defendant Hasbi Dede, who is standing trial without detention, did not attend, while the lawyers of the victim Tuana Elif Gülüşan Torun were present.
1 YEAR AND 6 MONTHS IN PRISON, NO DEFERRAL OF VERDICT
The court panel, as a result of the trial, sentenced Hasbi Dede to 1 year and 6 months in prison. Additionally, it was decided not to defer the announcement of the verdict regarding the defendant.
PROTEST AT COURTHOUSE
Meanwhile, the friends of the deceased Tuana Torun gathered in front of the courthouse holding photographs to protest the decision.
