A new development has occurred regarding the fate of the activists detained following Israel's intervention against the Global Sumud Fleet. In a statement on a social media platform, Minister Saar stated that the activists held on Israeli navy ships will be brought ashore in accordance with the agreement reached with the Greek government. Saar also thanked Greece for its approach to accepting the activists.
FLEET DEPARTED FROM BARCELONA
The Global Sumud Fleet, aiming to break the Gaza blockade and deliver humanitarian aid, departed from Barcelona on April 12. Later, with participants joining from Sicily Island, it set sail again on April 26.
INTERVENTION IN INTERNATIONAL WATERS
On the night of April 29, the fleet was intercepted by the Israeli military in international waters off the coast of Crete Island. During the intervention, boats were seized and numerous activists were detained.
345 PARTICIPANTS FROM 39 COUNTRIES
According to fleet officials, the boats carried a total of 345 people from 39 different countries, including Turks. Following Israel's intervention, it was reported that some boats reached Greek territorial waters, while others were proceeding toward the area.
STATUS OF ACTIVISTS UNCLEAR
While no clear information could be obtained about the condition of the civilians detained after the attack, which occurred approximately 600 nautical miles from Gaza, fleet officials announced that Israel had confiscated 21 boats.
