THE "YENİDOĞAN ÇETESİ" CASE CONTINUES The trial of 57 defendants, 16 of whom are in custody, accused of causing the deaths of baby patients by transferring them to private hospitals' neonatal units they had previously agreed upon and making unjust profits, known to the public as the "Yenidoğan Çetesi" case, is ongoing.
Tuğçe Toptemel In the hearing held in the conference hall of the Bakırköy 22nd Heavy Penal Court, 6 of the 16 detained defendants, including the doctor Fırat Sarı, who is alleged to be the leader of an organized crime group, were present. Some of the defendants who are not in custody, complainants, and attorneys for the parties also attended the hearing. The defense attorneys of the defendants were heard during the hearing.
DECISION MADE FOR THE RELEASE OF 3 NURSES After the statements of the attorneys, the court panel took a 2-hour break for an interim decision.
