It was claimed that trustee Gürsel Tekin provided the police with a list of 30 names for entry into the former CHP Istanbul Provincial Headquarters building in Sarıyer. CHP Istanbul MP Ali Gökçek stated that those not on this list were not allowed to enter the building. Meanwhile, following this development, tensions arose today in front of the party headquarters.
The appointed trustee for the CHP Istanbul Provincial Presidency, Gürsel Tekin, entered the party building yesterday with hundreds of police officers. After an intervention with plastic bullets and tear gas, Tekin was able to enter the building, and following this move, a surprising decision came from the CHP.
THE PROVINCIAL BUILDING IN SARIYER HAS BEEN MOVED TO BAHÇELİEVLER
The CHP administration decided to close the provincial building in Sarıyer and move it to Bahçelievler. The decision of the CHP Central Executive Board was communicated to the Court of Cassation. Thus, the Bahçelievler building legally became the CHP Istanbul Provincial Presidency. The building in Sarıyer will be used as Özgür Özel's office.
ALLEGATION THAT WILL CREATE AGENDA FROM CHP DEPUTY
CHP Istanbul Deputy Ali Gökçek, who participated in the Halk TV broadcast, made a striking allegation. Gökçek stated, "Our friends who tried to go to the provincial building today were blocked. When we asked 'Why?', they responded, 'Gürsel Tekin gave us a list of 30 people. We cannot let anyone in outside of that list.'"
"IF HE SAYS HE WILL MANAGE THIS PLACE WITH 30 PEOPLE, HE SHOULD NOT BE OFFENDED"
Gökçek continued his remarks by suggesting that Gürsel Tekin prepared a list of 30 people and gave it to the police, and that those not on the list were prohibited from entering the building; "Gürsel Tekin is talking about only our membership count in the entire 2 million-member Republican People's Party. If he says he will manage this place with 30 people among more than 400,000 members in Istanbul, he should not be offended. There are millions of votes here. There is the labor of millions of people here.
I condemn Gürsel Tekin again from here, who determined a list of 30 people and brought thousands of police here saying he would not let in party members outside of that. Did a junta come to the head of the state? When a junta comes, only police go to seize the general headquarters of parties, provincial organizations, and district chairmanships. Is this what happened? The military goes to seize. Here, the police came and seized."
SCUFFLE OCCURRED IN FRONT OF THE BUILDING
Meanwhile, following the words of the CHP deputy, tension also arose in front of the former Istanbul Provincial Presidency building in Sarıyer. Many deputies confirmed the allegation, stating that they could not enter the building, while a scuffle occurred with the police at the entrance.
