After the appointment of trustees to the municipalities of Mardin, Batman, and Halfeti, an investigation has been launched against DEM Party Co-Chair Tuncer Bakırhan, who used expressions that drew reactions in his speech. In a statement made by the Ministry of Interior, it was stated, "Regarding the appointment of deputy mayors to the municipalities of Mardin, Batman, and Halfeti; legal action has been initiated against Siirt Deputy and Co-Chair of the DEM Party Tuncer BAKIRHAN due to his speech on 04.11.2024 and the statement made by DEM Party Mardin Provincial Chair Mehmet Mihdi TUNÇ on 04.11.2024." WHAT DID HE SAY?Tuncer Bakırhan stated in his speech in Mardin, "Let them know very well that whatever Seyit Rıza did, whatever Sheikh Said did, whatever the Mazlums, Denizlers, and Sakiners did, the Kurdish people will do the same." STATEMENT FROM THE DEM PARTYThe DEM Party also made a statement regarding Bakırhan being targeted after these remarks. In the statement, it was noted that Bakırhan's words referring to Sheikh Said and Seyit Rıza in his speech about the trustee issue were distorted, and the following expressions were included: "The speech points to a historical memory, and the methods that produce a lack of solutions to the Kurdish issue are being criticized. While a trustee coup is being carried out against our municipalities, we are also subjected to an organized political lynching."
