Italy's Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni announced that a judicial investigation has been launched against her due to the release and repatriation of a high-ranking Libyan police officer who was wanted by the International Criminal Court after being detained in Italy. Meloni stated regarding the matter, "I cannot be blackmailed. You cannot intimidate me."
An investigation has been launched regarding the release of a senior Libyan police officer, wanted by the International Criminal Court (ICC), after being detained in his country.
SHE SHARED ON SOCIAL MEDIA
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, in a video she shared on her social media account, showed the investigation notification paper signed by prosecutor Francesco Lo Voi, stating that she received a notification of investigation regarding the crime of aiding and abetting and the misuse of public resources related to the release and repatriation of Libyan Najeem Osema Almasri Habish last week.
"I CANNOT BE BLACKMAILED"
In her statement regarding the issue, Meloni said, "I cannot be blackmailed. You cannot intimidate me. Especially when it comes to the security of the nation, I intend to continue defending Italians."
INVESTIGATION FOR TWO MINISTERS AND ONE UNDERSECRETARY
Meloni reported that similar investigation notifications were also sent to Justice Minister Carlo Nordio, Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi, and the Undersecretary of the Prime Ministry responsible for intelligence, Alfredo Mantovano.
