An 82-year-old woman, Fethiye Evren, lost her life in a fire that broke out for an undetermined reason in a house in the village of Korucu, Edirne. While the elderly woman's death broke hearts, it was claimed that a traffic police officer stopped the fire brigade from intervening, saying, "The public is disturbed, do not sound the siren." It has been learned that an investigation has been initiated by the Edirne Provincial Police Department against two police officers.

In a statement from the Edirne Governorship, it was stated, "In the examination conducted, it was understood that the first vehicle to arrive at the scene was the fire truck, and the second vehicle that went to the scene was a water tanker for reinforcement, which was stopped by official personnel to learn 'where the fire was.' When the camera recordings were examined, it was determined that the water tanker going to the scene was stopped for '37' seconds to ask questions. Subsequently, as of yesterday, an administrative investigation has been initiated against the officials regarding the stopping incident," the statement said.
