The leader of the CHP, Özgür Özel, made very harsh remarks towards Yılmaz Özdil, who questioned him after the attack by saying, "Is Özgür Özel going into reverse?" Özel stated, "He comes out and says, 'Özgür Özel is going into reverse,' they would make him eat that reverse gear."

Özgür Özel made statements during a live broadcast on Sözcü TV. The CHP Chairman also reacted strongly to Yılmaz Özdil, who said he was 'reversing' because he spoke on the phone with President Erdoğan, in relation to the attack on him after Sırrı Süreyya Önder's funeral.

In his statement, Özel said, "There is a funeral on the same day, they are threatening my wife and daughter with their addresses. That so-called knowledgeable, heroic brother is saying, 'Is Özgür Özel reversing?' They will make that man eat reverse gear. Would Özgür Özel speak like this if he were to reverse?"
CLASHED WITH İPEK ÖZBEY
Özel also had tense moments with the host İpek Özbey. He said, "The organization that broadcasts that needs to frame its broadcasting policy. Instead of mentioning a person's name, they are saying insulting things. And they can sit in this chair. They should be warned, something should be said." After these words, İpek Özbey, who was broadcasting with Yılmaz Özdil, intervened.
Özbey replied, "We didn't ask you this for that. No institution is exempt from criticism, neither you nor us," she stated.
