In the Adapazarı district of Sakarya, moments of road blocking and an argument between a Republic Prosecutor and a minibus driver during traffic were captured on a vehicle camera. As the incident escalated, the Sakarya Chief Public Prosecutor's Office took a precedent-setting step, announcing that an judicial investigation has been launched against their colleague, Prosecutor B.Y.Ç., involved in the dispute, without any privileges, for the crimes of "Simple Assault, Insult, and Obstruction of Transportation Vehicles."
The incident that occurred in the Karaman neighborhood of the Adapazarı district has caused widespread repercussions in the judicial community and public opinion. A verbal dispute arose between Public Prosecutor B.Y.Ç., who was on duty at the Sakarya Courthouse, and minibus driver S.K. over a right-of-way issue while in traffic.
HE BLOCKED THE MINIBUS WITH HIS VEHICLE As the argument escalated, Prosecutor B.Y.Ç. blocked the minibus with his car and got out of his vehicle. The tension, which involved bystanders and later police officers called to the scene, was recorded second by second by the minibus's interior camera. The footage clearly shows the prosecutor getting out of his car, walking toward the minibus driver, and later continuing the confrontation at the minibus stop with police officers.
PROCEEDINGS INITIATED AGAINST THE PROSECUTOR After the footage sparked outrage, the Sakarya Chief Public Prosecutor's Office swiftly issued a written statement emphasizing the rule of law. The Chief Prosecutor's Office announced that legal proceedings had been initiated against Prosecutor B.Y.Ç., named in the incident, under Article 93 of Law No. 2802 on Judges and Prosecutors.
The written statement from the Sakarya Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on the matter included the following: "An investigation has been immediately initiated by our Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the incident that occurred in traffic on 10.06.2026 in the Adapazarı district of Sakarya province, which began between a public prosecutor and a minibus driver and later involved other individuals. As part of the investigation, statements from the parties have been taken, camera recordings and other evidence have been examined, and necessary legal actions have been carried out against the individuals involved in the incident. Regarding the allegations against the public prosecutor B.Y.Ç., named in the incident, legal proceedings have been initiated without any privilege, within the scope of Article 93 of Law No. 2802 on Judges and Prosecutors, under the same investigation file for the crimes of 'Obstructing the Movement of Transport Vehicles', 'Simple Assault', and 'Insult'.
"INVESTIGATION CONDUCTED IN ALL ASPECTS" Within the scope of the regulation in Article 46/4 of Highway Traffic Law No. 2918 regarding the act of 'persistently following another vehicle with the intent to attack in traffic or getting out of the vehicle for this purpose', procedures have also been initiated for imposing administrative sanctions against the public prosecutor. Our Chief Public Prosecutor's Office is conducting the investigation meticulously in all aspects, within the framework of the principles of impartiality and the rule of law, and developments will be shared with the public."
