Investigation regarding İmamoğlu's images in the courtroom.

Following the sharing of the court footage of Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu on social media, the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office initiated an investigation ex officio. Meanwhile, Presidential Advisor Oktay Saral reacted to the court proceedings by saying, "What kind of court is this!? I have no doubt that our esteemed Minister of Justice will take the necessary actions!"

After his arrest, a formal investigation was initiated regarding the sharing of images of Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was removed from his position as the Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB), on social media platforms in relation to the trial in which he is being prosecuted for the allegation that his university diploma is fake.

The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office took action yesterday after the images of Ekrem İmamoğlu, who appeared before the judge for the crime of "forgery of official documents in a chain," were published on social media platforms from the courtroom across from the Marmara Penal Institutions.

THE CRIME OF "RECORDING AUDIO AND VIDEO"

The prosecutor's office initiated a formal investigation for the crime of "recording audio or video" after determining that some individuals recorded video footage from the courtroom and shared the images on social media. The prosecutor's office wrote to law enforcement units to identify the suspects and uncover the material truth.

On the other hand, Presidential Advisor Oktay Saral also reacted to İmamoğlu's court process. In a statement he made on his social media account, Saral said, "Is this a trial or a movie scene? I have never seen such a disgrace. What kind of court is this!? I have no doubt that our Justice Minister will do what is necessary!"
