The additional import tariffs announced by the United States are shaking the entire world. There are discussions that the prices of Apple's popular smartphone, the iPhone, may see a record increase as a result. With the rise in production costs, there is talk of iPhone prices potentially doubling. If a 43% increase scenario occurs, the sales price in Turkey will rise to 188,758 lira.

The new customs decisions of the USA have caused economic fluctuations worldwide. These tariffs have hit Apple, which produces in various Asian countries, especially China. The technology giant Apple has become one of the companies most affected by the recent customs tariffs announced by US President Donald Trump. Yesterday, the company's shares fell by 9.2%.

The company has production facilities and agreements in Asian countries, especially China. There are concerns that the recent tariffs will force the company to raise prices due to increased costs. According to a report by Habertürk, Morgan Stanley analyst Erik Woodring stated in his assessment, "Apple has turned to markets like Vietnam, India, and Thailand to diversify its supply chain. However, reciprocal customs tariffs are also applied to these countries. So there is no escape. Apple may have to increase product prices in the US by 17-18% to balance the cost of these tariffs," he said.

43% INCREASE ON THE AGENDA

Rosenblatt Securities analysts predict that the cost of the iPhone will rise by 43%, and Apple will have to decide how much of these costs to pass on to consumers. According to the company's calculations, the cost of the Apple Watch will also increase by 43%. The cost of the iPad will rise by 42%, while the costs of the Mac and AirPods will increase by 39%. With its last price increase, Apple raised the sales price of the 1 TB iPhone Pro Max in Turkey to 131,999 lira. In the US, this phone is sold for $1,599.

HAD JUST INCREASED PRICES

In Turkey, an additional 1% cultural ministry share, 12% TRT Bandrol fee, 50% Special Consumption Tax (ÖTV), and 20% VAT are added to the US sales price of the iPhone. Additionally, during periods of currency volatility, extra price increases compared to the US can occur. We recently saw the last example of this with a 10% increase.

iPHONE 16 MAX MAY RISE TO 188,758 LIRA

Considering all these factors, in a scenario where a 17% increase is made in the US, the price of the most expensive iPhone, the 1 TB iPhone 16 Max, will rise from 131,999 lira to 154,437 lira. If the 43% increase scenario occurs, the sales price in Turkey will rise to 188,758 lira.

PARTS FROM DIFFERENT COUNTRIES ASSEMBLED IN CHINA TO PRODUCE iPHONE

When an iPhone is produced, special parts and processors come from the USA; screen panels, chipsets, and memory come from Japan, Korea, and Taiwan; gyroscopes come from Europe, and rare earth minerals come from Mongolia. Parts sourced from different countries are assembled in China. Therefore, it will become clear in the coming weeks or months how much the tariffs imposed by Trump will ultimately increase costs and how much of these increases Apple will pass on to consumers.
