SEVERE ATTACK ON TABRIZ
The Israeli army, continuing the attacks that started at midnight, struck near the airport in the city of Tabriz, Iran. Thick smoke rose from the area. Iranian media reported the attack with the words, "Tabriz is the target of Israel's severe attack."
MAJORITY OF THE POPULATION IS AZERBAIJANI TURK
Tabriz, the capital of East Azerbaijan Province in northwestern Iran, is known as the largest Turkish city in the region. The city, which has a majority population of Azerbaijani Turks, is also Iran's fourth-largest city and an important industrial center.
AN ATTACK ON SHIRAZ AND HAMEDAN
After Tabriz, the Israeli army also struck the city of Shiraz. Israeli warplanes bombed a base belonging to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps in Shiraz. Explosions were also reported at the Iranian radar base located in Hamedan in western Iran as a result of the attacks.
20 HIGH-RANKING COMMANDERS KILLED
In the airstrikes carried out by Israel on Iran last night, at least 20 high-ranking Iranian commanders were killed, including Iranian Chief of General Staff Bakiri, Revolutionary Guard Corps Commander Selami, and Revolutionary Guard Aerospace Forces Commander Hajizadeh.
6 SCIENTISTS KILLED
Meanwhile, six Iranian nuclear scientists were also killed in the Israeli attacks. It was reported that six scientists named Abdulhamid Minouchehr, Ahmadreza Zulfikari, Seyyid Amirhossein Faqhi, Motlabizadeh, Mohammad Mehdi Tehranchi, and Fereydoun Abbasi were killed in the attacks.
IRANIAN CHIEF OF STAFF KILLED
Iranian media reported that Iranian Chief of General Staff Mohammad Bakiri was killed in the Israeli attack. Additionally, in the attacks, Revolutionary Guard Corps Commander Hussein Selami, former head of the Iranian Atomic Energy Agency Fereydoun Abbasi, and nuclear scientist Mohammad Mehdi Tehranchi were also killed.
